Insurance coverage
Basic insurance
All our physiotherapy treatments are covered by LAMAL in the event of illness, by LAA in the event of accident, or by military and disability insurance. However, it is important to note that only sessions prescribed by a doctor are eligible for reimbursement. Treatment outside a medical prescription is possible, but remains at the patient’s expense.
Repayment conditions
Physiotherapy treatments are reimbursed by basic health insurance only on medical prescription. Sessions are priced in accordance with insurance conventions.
A physiotherapy prescription is valid for three months. However, you must book your first appointment within five weeks of the issue date. If your prescription expires during treatment, you can ask your doctor for a new one.
In Switzerland, you have the freedom to choose your therapist, even if your doctor has recommended a specific practitioner. The number of sessions reimbursed by the LAMAL is limited to 36 per year, with the possibility of extension under certain conditions. (The doctor must provide a report to your insurance company’s medical officer).
Home care reimbursement
Our home physiotherapy sessions are also covered by basic health insurance, subject to medical prescription. If you have difficulty moving around, or if your health condition requires home care, your doctor may prescribe home treatment. In this case, the insurance may cover a lump-sum travel allowance.
Supplementary insurance
Supplementary insurances may cover part of the cost of physiotherapy, if the therapist is listed in the supplementary insurance register for alternative therapies. However, reimbursement conditions vary according to the supplementary insurance policies taken out by the patient. We recommend that you consult the general terms and conditions of your insurance policy, or ask your supplementary insurer.
International insurance
If your health insurance is based abroad, you will have to pay directly for your physiotherapy sessions. You can then claim reimbursement from your foreign health insurance company. To simplify the reimbursement process, it is advisable to start the administrative procedures in advance.
Over-the-counter care
As a private patient, you can be treated in our centers without a doctor’s prescription, but you will have to pay for your own treatment, which will not be reimbursed by your basic health insurance.
Refunds for our Back School courses
Our Back School classes are specifically designed to strengthen and tone the deep muscles that support your back. These courses are covered by your basic health insurance, on presentation of a prescription from your doctor. You’ll enjoy 9 courses, with the option of renewing your prescription if necessary.
