From 2024, our Geneva physiotherapy network will be offering home perineal rehabilitation sessions. Thanks to a new transportable machine for biofeedback and electrostimulation, we can offer a quality of treatment equivalent to, or even superior to, that of our centers.
Why rehabilitate your perineum at home?
Re-educating the perineum at home has several advantages. Firstly, it allows rehabilitation to be adapted to the patient’s everyday environment, making sessions more comfortable and practical. What’s more, young moms, often constrained by their schedules, find this option more accessible, avoiding travel and logistical constraints. Finally, for sportswomen, at-home rehabilitation allows them to integrate exercises into their sports routine, improving the effectiveness of their sessions.
Is this the right solution for you?
With our at-home perineal rehabilitation and our biofeedback and electrostimulation machine, we offer you a practical approach to treating many common problems. Discover the specific pathologies we can help improve:
- Urinary incontinence: Involuntary loss of urine, often after childbirth or due to aging.
- Prolapse: Weakening of the pelvic muscles allowing the organs to descend.
- Chronic pelvic pain: persistent pain in the pelvic region.
- Post-partum rehabilitation: Recovery after childbirth, aimed at strengthening the pelvic floor muscles.
- Sexual dysfunction: Problems with sexual function linked to a weakened or sore perineum.
- Preparation for childbirth: Strengthening pelvic muscles to facilitate the birthing process.
Each home treatment program begins with a thorough assessment by our specialized physiotherapist, which helps define a personalized treatment plan. Sessions include exercises to strengthen and relax the perineal muscles, integrated into a familiar setting to enhance the effectiveness and convenience of the treatment. Sportswomen can also benefit from re-education adapted to their specific gestures and movements, facilitating an optimal return to their physical activities.
What is biofeedback and electrostimulation?
Biofeedback is a technique that uses sensors to measure perineal muscle activity. The information gathered is retransmitted in the form of visual or auditory signals, enabling the patient to become aware of her muscles’ activity and better control them. Electrostimulation, on the other hand, uses electrical impulses to stimulate the perineal muscles, strengthening their tone and function. These two techniques combined offer a complete and effective approach to perineal rehabilitation.
How to make an appointment
To benefit from home perineal rehabilitation sessions, simply make an appointment with one of our specialized physiotherapists. Make sure you have a doctor’s prescription stating “at home” so that your insurance will cover the cost of the session. If this is not mentioned, only the cost of the session will be covered, while travel expenses will remain your responsibility. Without a prescription, session and travel costs will be entirely at your expense. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a first visit, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will help you make the process as smooth as possible.
