Understanding the perineum
The perineum is a group of muscles, connective tissues and ligaments located between the vagina and the anus. It supports the pelvic organs, controls urinary and fecal continence, and is involved in sexual functions. However, events such as pregnancy, childbirth, aging and high-impact activities can weaken these muscles, leading to problems such as incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain.
Perineal physiotherapy goes beyond treating current symptoms, it also aims to prevent future problems and promote long-term well-being.
Through specific exercises, biofeedbacks, relaxation techniques and lifestyle advice, our physiotherapists help women restore strength, function and confidence in their bodies.
